Newborn Baby Carter | Rhode Island and Boston Newborn Baby Photographer

Beautiful, sleepy, new Carter… thank you for coming to the studio!

In her words:

“I knew right from the beginning that Carter was going to be a special little man.  His conception was not planned, but right from the start we welcomed whoever decided to enter our world in 9 months.

As the months passed, Carter developed perfectly and on April 22, he decided that it was time.  He was scheduled to arrive on the 24th via cesarean, but in true Pina fashion, he couldn’t wait.  Contractions started early that morning and by one o’clock they were in full force.  By the time we got to the hospital the contractions were about a minute and a half apart and I was prepped for a c-section.  Forty-five minutes later, as we waited for the anesthesiologist, he was born VBAC.

Carter entered the world at 5:00pm without a tear in his little eyes.  He was such a peanut weighing in at 5 lbs.  10 oz. and only 18 inches long.  Looking down at him for the first time brought tears to my eyes.  He was so sweet snuggling up against me for his first hour of life staring at me with those alert little eyes saying “Here I am mommy!””

Eight Month Sam | Rhode Island and Boston Natural light Baby Photographer

We had a warm late afternoon at Roger Williams Park for our session..and I think we caught the last of the blooms on the wondrous weeping tree in the botanical garden!

The project continues with this miraculous story:

“Early in the morning of August 19th, 2011, nothing was going to stop Samuel Richard Bell from entering the world. Unfortunately, his umbilical cord almost got in the way. Luckily it did not, thanks to the amazing, miracle-working doctors and nurses at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, who dropped everything to perform an emergency c-section. They had him out within minutes. Since August 19th was just over 11 weeks before his due date, Sam, at 3lbs 1oz, was considered a high-risk preemie. He would spend his first 9½ weeks of life in the NICU, where he charmed all the nurses as he grew to be was one of the biggest babies there (7lbs!). He has thrived since then, gaining almost 10 more pounds in the months he’s been home, and just got his doctor’s approval to get out into the world, as his lungs and immune system seem to be developing normally. He’s been a very happy and healthy baby, for which we are extremely grateful. We are excited to celebrate with some beautiful pictures by Michelle! “

My Family | RI and MA Newborn Baby Photographer

Our second child, Dax Dimery, was born on February 12th 2012 at 2:06 pm.  He was 21 inches long and 8 pounds, 14.5 ounces.

Pregnancy is hard, very hard, and childbirth is even harder.. photographing my children is really what makes every stretch mark, varicose vein and contraction worth it.

We were extremely blessed, and were lucky enough to have Kaytie Dimery and Courtney Tessitore take care of our amazing toddler during Dax’s birth.  I simply cannot thank them enough.  Our family and friends have been so good to Dax and Charlie;  Rob and I could not be more grateful… all of the faces, smiles, delicious food, and amazing company has left us in such bliss!

We would also like to give a special thanks to Lisa Gendron Photography for taking Dax’s first photos during the birth, and to Lee Sutton Photography for traveling from the Cape to take our family’s portraits (which you can see on her blog).

Here is our new baby Dax.. and our old baby Charlie.

Lastly, please look at the post just prior to this one to see our gorgeous new niece, Chloe!

9 Days New | Rhode Island and MA Newborn Baby Photography

I have to admit.. I was a little hesitant about bringing a St. Bernard into the studio!  My thought process was “Beethoven!!”  and my new velvet-y couch… but boy was I wrong.  He was as sweet as pie and sat in the same spot the entire session!

From the moment I saw little Stella I was in heaven.. she looks so big because of her adorable little chubby cheeks!  She smiled so many times throughout the session ….sadly.. most of the time it was when I was setting up a prop and didn’t have the camera in my hand!  We did catch a couple though!

I had a great time.. and I am very happy to have met this family!
